Mitsurugi

Mitsurugi is a Ritual archetype focused on its Level 8 Ritual Monsters, each of which triggers a GY effect when Tributed to recover card advantage and board presence. The goal is to end on Ame no Murakumo and Futsu no Mitama, whose disruptive on-field effects and powerful Tribute triggers make the board difficult to break through.

Strategy Overview

Every Mitsurugi monster activates in the GY when Tributed — either as Ritual material or by their own effects — recovering advantage and presence. The Ritual Spell "Mitsurugi Ritual" doubles the archetype's consistency by allowing Ritual Summons from the Deck using hand/field materials, and from the hand using Deck materials, each once per turn. The endboard of Ame no Murakumo (destroys opponent's monsters on Special Summon; negates or forces a discard) and Futsu no Mitama (swarms Reptiles as the opponent Special Summons; recurs Kusanagi and Saji) is hard to break due to their combined disruption and self-recursion on Tribute.

Mitsurugi pairs naturally with Ogdoadic: Ogdoadic's Tribute mechanic to revive monsters from the GY triggers the Mitsurugi GY effects in the process, and shared Level 8 status enables Rank 8 plays. Herald of the Arc Light provides an alternative line, searching Habakiri from the GY after a Synchro Summon. Nibiru also interacts uniquely with the deck — since its board wipe Tributes face-up monsters, the Ritual monsters can activate their GY effects and even Special Summon themselves back to the field.
